Estelon - XB Diamond MK2 - Floorstanding Speaker
Estelon was founded in Tallinn, Estonia in 2010 by Alfred Vassilkov, a loudspeaker designer with decades of experience who wanted to build speakers that were simultaneously world-class acoustically and genuinely beautiful as objects in a room. The result is a range of loudspeakers whose curved, marble-based cabinets are unlike anything else in high-end audio — not as a stylistic statement, but because the curved, resonance-free enclosure is the engineering solution that Vassilkov believed produced the best sound. Every Estelon speaker is built by hand in Tallinn by a small team of craftspeople who treat each pair as a commission, not a production run.
ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY
The fundamental engineering insight behind every Estelon design is that a loudspeaker cabinet should be acoustically inert and mechanically stable — and that achieving this with conventional materials and rectangular shapes requires compromises that ultimately colour the sound. Estelon's curved enclosures, constructed from a proprietary composite material with a marble base, eliminate internal standing waves and provide a mechanical grounding that allows the drivers — sourced from the finest European manufacturers — to operate with complete freedom. The crossover networks are point-to-point wired, using components chosen for their sonic character rather than their specification alone. What you hear from an Estelon speaker is not the cabinet. It is the music.
WHY THE AUDIO TAILOR CARRIES ESTELON
We carry Estelon because it answers a question that matters to a growing number of our clients: why should a world-class loudspeaker have to be hidden away or apologised for aesthetically? An Estelon speaker belongs in a beautiful room. It is also, by any measure, among the finest speakers in the world.
XB Diamond Mk II
Outstanding Performance Combining the Best in Sound and Design
The XB Diamond Mk II brings Estelon’s signature sound quality and sculptural design to more intimate, high-performance listening spaces. Compact yet uncompromising, it delivers exceptional transparency, precision, and emotional engagement.
Featuring a 1-inch diamond tweeter, refined internal cabling, and a state-of-the-art crossover network, the XB Diamond Mk II produces extended high frequencies with remarkable clarity and control. The result is a detailed, immersive, and emotionally captivating listening experience that remains faithful to the original performance.
Design Philosophy: Harmony Between Sound and Space
At Estelon, every loudspeaker is designed to work in harmony with the space it inhabits. Every surface within a listening room—floors, walls, ceilings, and furnishings—interacts with sound and shapes how music is experienced.
The goal is to create loudspeakers that integrate naturally with their environment, delivering a lifelike, emotionally rich soundstage rather than imposing an artificial character.
-
Low frequencies behave like atmospheric pressure rather than directional waves. Positioning the woofer close to the floor allows it to couple with the surface, distributing bass evenly and improving clarity.
-
Above 100 Hz, sound becomes increasingly directional and sensitive to reflections. For this reason, the mid-woofer and tweeter are grouped together and positioned higher on the cabinet to maintain coherence and a stable stereo image.
-
In all Estelon designs, the midrange driver is placed above the tweeter, further improving upper bass and low midrange accuracy.
Advanced Cabinet Technology
The XB Diamond Mk II cabinet is crafted from Estelon’s proprietary marble-based composite, formed using advanced moulding techniques. This construction results in an enclosure with no parallel walls, supported by an internal system of curved surfaces and acoustically optimised chambers.
Each driver operates within its own tailored enclosure, designed specifically for its frequency range. Internal bracing and precisely positioned damping materials minimise unwanted resonances while supporting the drivers without introducing tonal colouration.
The cabinet’s rigidity and mass contribute to excellent stability, low noise, and outstanding resolution.
Precision Driver System by Accuton
The XB Diamond Mk II features a three-driver configuration, all custom-designed in collaboration with Accuton:
-
220 mm ceramic sandwich woofer delivering deep, accurate, and controlled bass
-
158 mm ceramic mid-woofer providing a clean, extended, and articulate midrange
-
25 mm diamond membrane tweeter offering extraordinary detail, speed, and spatial precision
The woofer operates within a rear-ported bass reflex chamber, while the tweeter is housed in an isolated enclosure with a curved face to ensure even dispersion and accurate imaging.
Driver Positioning & Dispersion Control
All drivers are mounted on a curved front baffle, ensuring they are equidistant from the listening position. This geometry allows sound from each driver to arrive simultaneously, enhancing coherence, timing, and realism.
The cabinet’s smooth curves reduce diffraction effects, expanding the sweet spot and maintaining consistent tonal balance across a wide listening area.
Precision Crossover Design
The XB Diamond Mk II uses meticulously engineered crossover filters housed in their own dedicated chamber to protect them from vibration and mechanical interference.
-
Crossover points: 90 Hz and 2.2 kHz
-
Third-order slopes between the woofer and mid-woofer
-
Second-order slopes between the mid-woofer and tweeter
Each crossover is hand-built using point-to-point wiring and premium-grade solder. Carefully selected components include Mundorf and Jantzen capacitors, Goertz and Mundorf inductors, and Kubala-Sosna internal cabling, ensuring exceptional signal purity and musical integrity.
