Montaudio - Wairakei P-Ultra - Power Cable

The pioneering geothermal Wairakei Power Station within the Taupo Volcanic Zone of New Zealand has set a global precedent for sustainable energy generation since its inception in 1958, and its innovations inspired the creation of the Wairakei P-Ultra power cable.

Crafted with meticulous attention, the Wairakei P-Ultra is a symphony of innovation, showcasing a unique blend of Silver-Copper alloy conductor - a synthesis of pristine Monocrystalline Copper, Silver-Plated and Non-Plated High Purity Copper. Each conductor is cryogenically treated at the in-house cutting-edge facility and encased in select Cross-Linked Polyethylene XLPE dielectric, which is further fortified by premium Polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE insulation.

The Wairakei P-Ultra features a double-layered structure, fully enveloped in a layer of copper foil, followed by an ultra-high coverage Silver-Plated braiding. This design helps maintain signal integrity and supports the consistent delivery of clean and dynamic audio performance.

Innovation continues in the Wairakei P-Ultra with the introduction of the nano Quell Technology (nQT), a pioneering ingenious masterpiece. This highly sophisticated, multi-layered composite, treated with coatings of advanced nano-sized materials positioned beneath the solid Natural Walnut Wood ring, provides exceptional vibration control, resulting in clean and refined clarity. The combination of the solid Natural Walnut Wood ring and premium hand-polished stainless-steel rings ensures both durability and aesthetic appeal. This pioneering design showcases the commitment to push the boundaries of engineering and craftsmanship in premium audio technology and the relentless pursuit of a pure and elegant sound experience.

The commitment extends to the connectors, where its centre conductor boasts an Alpha Pure-Copper Rhodium-plated structure, complemented by NCF anti-static and resonance damping materials. The housing features precision-machined, non-magnetic stainless steel, elegantly accentuated by silver-plated carbon fibre.

Elevate, Enrich, Enrapture - delve into the mesmerising realm of the Wairakei P-Ultra encounter.

Montaudio was founded in Auckland, New Zealand in late 2013 by a group of like-minded audiophiles who shared a single conviction: that the cables, racks, and accessories supporting a high-end audio system matter as much as the components themselves — and that nothing on the market was good enough. Rather than accept that compromise, they set out to build their own. What emerged was a brand defined by an ethos as much as a product range: Pure, Natural, Simple, Elegance. That philosophy is embedded in every decision Montaudio makes, from the materials selected to the names given to each product — every one of which is drawn from New Zealand's extraordinary natural landscape. The Manuka, the Tongariro, the Wanaka, the Rakaia, the Chatham: each name is a small piece of the country that made the brand, carried into listening rooms around the world. ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY Montaudio's engineering approach begins with a principle that is straightforward to state but demanding to execute: that anything in the signal path or physical environment of an audio system that introduces noise, vibration, or interference is an enemy of music — and that eliminating these influences requires purpose-built solutions, not afterthoughts. Their cables are constructed around polyethylene dielectrics on the main conductors, copper and silver-plated copper cores, fully shielded with copper or aluminium foil against the electromagnetic interference that pervades modern listening environments. Natural cotton filler is used within each cable for additional vibration damping, and walnut wood — chosen specifically for its acoustic damping properties — features throughout the range as both an aesthetic signature and a functional material. Connectors are designed in-house with solid single-piece conductors, hand-terminated by skilled technicians using temperature-controlled soldering and cold-welding processes that preserve the crystalline structure of the metal at the contact point. The Manuka MR Reference HiFi Rack takes the vibration control philosophy further still: solid walnut and birch plywood shelves incorporating the proprietary Montaudio Vibration Isolation Pillar (MVIP) — a machined stepped-honeycomb pattern that forces vibrational energy downward and dissipates it through the material boundary layers, rather than allowing it to reach the equipment above. Every element of the Montaudio range is designed to do one thing: get out of the way of the music
