Pioneer A109 BLK - Pre Loved

Pioneer A109 BLK - Pre Loved

The Pioneer A-109 is a compact integrated amplifier built to deliver straightforward hi-fi performance with a focus on musicality and simplicity. Offering around 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms, it provides enough clean power for small to medium-sized rooms, especially when paired with reasonably efficient speakers. A DIN power rating of 40 watts at 1 kHz also gives a little extra headroom for peaks.

This amp was part of Pioneer’s “Direct Energy MOS” line, which employed MOSFET transistors in the power stage for smoother performance and better current handling. The sound is clean, balanced, and musical, with low distortion at normal listening levels.

The A-109 includes a built-in phono stage for Moving Magnet cartridges, letting you connect a turntable directly. Additional line inputs allow for CD players, tuners, or tape decks. On the output side, it offers tape/recorder outputs, headphone jack, and A/B speaker switching.

For tailoring the sound, it has bass and treble controls, a balance knob, and a loudness contour switch. The loudness function boosts low and high frequencies at low volume settings, helping maintain full sound at quiet listening levels.

Physically, the unit is compact and lightweight at just over 4 kg, making it easy to place in smaller systems. While it lacks modern features like digital inputs, DACs, or streaming, the A-109 excels as a simple, affordable hi-fi amplifier with enough flexibility for a classic two-channel setup.
